The course is a 4 week fast track online blended format. The program is designed to bridge the RN to the EMT and provide knowledge and skills necessary to perform as a competent EMT. This course will also prepare the RN to take the NREMT exams. You will have access to the course material on Blackboard and may complete assignments, quizzes, and exams at your own discretion. You are REQUIRED to pass the final written exam and the final psychomotor exam in order to be eligible for the NREMT written and psychomotor exam.
The student will have two attempts at the final written exam and two attempts at the final psychomotor exam. Combat medics are also able to attend this class to gain NREMT certification. Military transcripts will be required. If necessary, we can provide in a college credit format.
Due to the expedited format of this course, students are required to provide documentation NO LATER THEN Friday June 30th, 5:00 pm:
· Current RN license
· Current AHA Healthcare provider BLS
· OSBI (or equivalent) background
Students are required to attend class July 3rd & July 24th 8:00-5:00. The program written and psychomotor final will be held July 24th. Students may attend class on Mondays 8:00- 5:00 or Tuesday/ Thursday evenings – 5:30-9:30 pm for additional assistance if they choose to do so. There is minimal lecture time although instructors will answer questions and explain complex concepts. Class time will primarily be utilized for psychomotor skill training and scenarios where you will utilize your knowledge, skills and professionalism to manage various patient trauma and medical emergencies.
Students are required to complete 3 (12) hour clinical rotations prior to the program final July 24thth.
Students may take the NREMT Psychomotor Exam at no cost on Aug 2nd , 8:00-5:00 pm. After successfully completing the NREMT Psychomotor exam the student will schedule the NREMT written exam.
