A preparation course for the CDA Credential. Focus on how to promote children's self-esteem and independence and how to help children feel physically and emotionally secure. Children's development of social skills, empathy, and respect for others will be emphasized. Students will learn the relationship between guidance methods and children's individuality, personality, and developmental levels. Prevention of behavior problems and positive guidance techniques are presented. Course addresses CDA Competency #3. Assigned field experiences.

Prerequisites: Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry background check clearance and current negative TB test on file with the TCC Child Development Office.
