Students will have the opportunity to develop novel approaches to mastering algebraic problems. In this course, students will develop a collaborative and open-ended problem-solving approach in a mathematical context as well explore robust numerical literacy, abstract algebraic symbols, and operations, and advance their understanding of different ways to view and use data.

Course Content Includes:
  • Number and Operations: rational numbers (fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios)
  • Algebraic Reasoning and Algebra: linear equations and proportional reasoning (multiple representations), patterns
  • Geometry and Measurement: Physical and Pictorial representations using building manipulatives such as KEVA planks, LEGOS, or Tinker Toys, area and perimeter, direct and abstract modeling
